Connected Vehicle Mobile Experience
The owner app behind Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Maserati, used by millions of drivers.

The company
Stellantis is one of the world’s largest automakers, formed in 2021 when FCA and PSA merged. It builds cars for 14 brands. Owners of those cars manage them through a brand app on their phone.
Jeep · Ram · Dodge · Chrysler · Peugeot · Citroën · Fiat · Alfa Romeo · Maserati · Opel · Vauxhall · Lancia · DS · Abarth
- The problem
- Owners had two apps for one car, Mopar and Uconnect, across many brands. Stellantis needed one app per brand on one shared core.
- What I did
- Designed the core every brand app reuses: dashboard, vehicle info and health, drive alerts and locations, working with research, engineering and the web team. Then shaped the strategy and design of the next app, coming soon.
- What changed
- The core I designed runs the Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Maserati apps, with about 250K ratings on the US App Store alone.
- of drivers use the apps
- Millions
- ratings for the Jeep app on the US App Store, at 4.8
- 121K
- brand apps on the core I designed
- 7
- brands in the next app
- 14

The live app, next to the car it controls
It runs on the core experience I designed for the shared owner app. Here are its main parts.
- 01Garage (Vehicle Feature)The owner’s vehicles in one place: pick which one the app shows.
- 02Status at a glanceRange and fuel level, readable in a second.
- 04Remote commandsActions sent to the car from the phone, such as remote start and door locks.
- 03Service reminderThe next maintenance item, here an oil change.
- 05OffersPromotions and connected services, here in‑vehicle Wi‑Fi.

02The challenge
One car, two apps, many brands
Owners needed two apps to manage one car: Mopar for service and Uconnect for remote commands. Stellantis wanted a single app for each brand, all built from the same parts.
The shared parts had to cover electric, plug-in hybrid and gas vehicles, keep every brand recognizable, and let new features reach every brand at once. Nothing owners already relied on could be lost along the way.
01 Before: two apps, one car

02 One shared core
Flows and components every brand reuses
03 After: an app for each brand
Each with its own look and a few features of its own. Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Wagoneer.
03What I designed
The everyday parts of owning a car
From November 2020 to March 2023 I designed the core of the owner app, the part every brand reuses: the dashboard, vehicle info and health, drive alerts, locations and the components behind them. I worked with UX researchers, product and engineering, and with the web team so the app and the owner website feel like one experience. I also contributed to a few smaller smartwatch projects.

Dashboard
Range, fuel and the next service at a glance, with one-tap remote commands.

Vehicle info
Fuel level, tire pressure and odometer, read from the car.

Vehicle health
A health report by system, with a direct path to schedule service.

Drive alerts and off-road pages
Speed, curfew and boundary alerts, valet mode, and roll, pitch and altitude for the trail.

Boundary alerts
Geofences that notify the owner when the car leaves or enters an area.

Setting an alert
Name it, draw the boundary, choose when to be notified.

Find my vehicle
Where the car is and when it last reported.

Places
Favorites, parking, gas stations and the owner’s dealer, sent to the car.
Recorded on my phone
From the dashboard to a speed alert in a few taps
The live app on a real account: the dashboard, service and locations, then the drive alerts flow, where an owner sets a 60 mph speed limit and confirms it with a PIN.
04Coming soon
Next: a new app for every brand
After Uconnect, we designed a new owner app for all 14 Stellantis brands. It keeps one core and gives each brand its own skin, so a Jeep, a Peugeot and a Maserati app each feel like the brand that made them.
For a stretch of the project I was the only designer on it in the US office, and I shaped the app’s strategy as well as its design: the dashboard, remote operations, vehicle info and the Garage, where owners keep all their vehicles. The app launches soon and is under NDA until then.

The next app: one core, a distinct skin for all 14 brands
05Results
Still in use across seven brands
The core experience I designed still runs the owner apps for Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Maserati. On the US App Store alone, Jeep’s app has 121K ratings and Ram’s 94K, at 4.8 stars.
The patterns and guidelines I set became the baseline for connected services, and the same core now ships as one app per brand.
On the US App Store today
US App Store, iOS only: about 250K ratings across these apps. Other regions and Android add many more.
